Fields, gravel pits and landfills are uses that have left their mark. The history of the Volksfestplatz largely escapes public awareness. It exists only as a name and in the city’s collective memory.
So what is the Volksfestplatz? First of all, a huge opportunity for a new park for Germering.
The design for the future park takes up themes and elements from the history of the Volksfestplatz. The square was once a meeting place for young and old, there was extensive celebration and leisure fun. The design transfers this memory of the joyful history of the folk festivals into the future design of the park.
