Studio Sozia, StadtplusThe project aims to develop the Illertissen town hall area into a lively and representative green center that serves as a counterpart to the busy market square. A holistic redesign of the open spaces will create a place that brings together the diversity of public life. Here, urban representation, civic community and administrative functions come together in a harmonious symbiosis.
The central open space extends from the town hall to the new community center and forms the heart of the future area. Multi-coded areas serve as a retreat, lounge area and event location for citizens. The natural height differences of the site are cleverly used to integrate seating options and create varied spaces. Flowering perennials under the old, valuable trees set visual and ecological accents and create an intimate atmosphere.
The established markets, which make up a significant part of the city’s identity, find their place in the new design of the central open space. By integrating urban gardening beds and communal seating, the community garden becomes a lively meeting place for the community.
